Loon's Nest - 16 w to 18 m Infants (new enrolments on hold as of Aug 2024)

The playroom for our youngest friends is characterised by its soothing, welcoming environment. A brightly colored mat on the floor, an unbreakable wall mirror low enough for babies to look at themselves, squishy blocks within reach on low shelves—everything's so inviting!

Simple, interesting materials is available and easily accessible.   That includes toys objects like baskets and pails that babies use to dump and fill. Of course, babies love the different textures and, as they get a little older, learn to understand words like big, soft, smooth, and shiny. The teachers will often hold the Loons on their laps to enjoy a book together, “look at these bunnies. They're hopping on the bed!”

Blue Jays - 18 m to 3 years Toddlers

Soft carpets, comforting family photos, colorful toys—everything's so cozy! Our Blue Jays enjoy a comfortable learning environment where our teachers form close, personal relationships with children, interact with them in ways that show respect, and help them learn to manage their own behaviors, through giving lots of attention, help with tasks,  offer choices throughout the day.

As toddlers need lots of interesting objects to explore, our teachers choose toys and materials that can be used in different ways, so toddlers develop creativity and problem-solving skills. Our staff also plan a balanced schedule, with time for active play (indoors and outdoors) and rest & not to forget walks around the neighbourhood. Everyday routines—like eating, toileting, and dressing— are a welcome occasion to bond with children and encourage them to do things for themselves.

Treeswifts - 3 to 5 y Preschoolers

On a class nature walk, Emerson notices that the leaves, which were once green, are now red, orange, and yellow. He asks his teacher why the leaves are changing colors. Sophie and Kai build a ramp for their toy cars and test how fast the cars go when the ramp is at different angles. At the dramatic play centre, Amal, Belize and Rachel set up a pretend doctor's office. They take turns role-playing as the doctor, receptionist, and patient.

These preschoolers are having fun and learning a lot through their play. Kiddos who succeed in school and later in life know how to find solutions to problems. They can communicate and work well with others. They are curious, creative thinkers, and they continue to learn and adapt. Lakeland can help your child build these skills.

In our high-quality classroom kinder/ after-school program, our aim is to create a community of learners, help all children feel accepted and to encourage children's friendships.
